Newcastle IT firm Calibre Secured Networks Ltd has made key appointments to meet demand for its services and support expansion.

Jake Reilly has joined the Science Central-based network and infrastructure specialists as a platform engineer providing server expertise and assistance with the installation and configuration of Cisco technologies.

Also starting will be Joe Davies, who joins as an apprentice working towards completing his Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in IT while supporting operations director Steve Nelson and the team on new contracts and existing installation work.

The Owen Pugh Group has welcomed Graeme Cochrane as Managing Director of Civil Engineering in a role which sees him head up the division following the implementation of a new business structure designed to position the company for further growth.

Graeme, who is a Chartered Engineer and has over 10 years’ experience in the sector will have responsibility for the civil engineering team as part of the new structure.

Newcastle-headquartered law firm Watson Burton has appointed a new solicitor as part of the on-going expansion of its commercial litigation team.

Andrew Thompson (40) from Newton Aycliffe has been appointed as Regional Director North.

David Wilson (45) from Wakefield has joined as Sales Director and will take the lead on Mobile Mini’s sales strategy, and Sarah James (38) from County Durham has been appointed Finance Director.

Richard Newton has been appointed Commercial Director, Logistics, for the Port of Tyne, based in South Shields, North East England.

Formerly the Port’s Commercial Manager, the Northumbria University graduate has held international logistics roles in both operational and commercial positions in North East England and Northern Ireland, with Lidl and Montgomery Transport Group.

James Lane, who boasts a 15 year career in IT and training, steps into the director role fresh from Raw Digital Training, where he held a senior role in the development and delivery of digital skills and social media training.

Solicitors James Godden, Gwen Jones and Paul Crawley have been appointed as associates and will play key roles in the future of the company. Bradley Hall announced that Nick Bramwell, graduate surveyor and Lisa Hall, administrator will join the Grey Street operation as the chartered surveyor and estate agent continues to grow.

Martin has worked within the print and packaging industry for more than 25 years, having originally studied and worked as a graphic designer before moving into sales and business development, meaning he is in a unique position when it comes to understanding clients’ requirements.

North East chartered surveyor and estate agent Bradley Hall is supporting the next generation of property experts as two placement students join the team.

The appointment of real estate students Libby Naylor and Ben Taylor comes at a time of success for the business, which this year launched financial arm BH Financial Services, expanded its team and added its fifth operation in Morpeth.

High pressure pump and valve specialist Haskel has made three new management appointments as its restructures its business in Sunderland to make the most of growing global opportunities.

The business, which marks its 70th anniversary in 2016, has appointed Graham Fox as operations manager, Stan Carty as commercial manager and Guillaume Nicolas as financial controller.

Bus operator Stagecoach announced that it has appointed a new Managing Director of its North East bus operations.

Current Stagecoach North Scotland Managing Director Steve Walker will take on the role of Managing Director, Stagecoach North East from 12 September 2016.  In the interim period, the business will continue to be managed by Clare Kavanagh, Strategy Director, Stagecoach UK Bus.

A North East accountancy firm has appointed its first management accountant as head of its new outsourcing department, in order to adapt to the ever changing needs of its clients.

Luke Hopkins, 27, will be responsible for Tees Valley-based Anderson Barrowcliff’s outsourcing services, dealing with clients that require real time financial support, which adds to the company’s more traditional services including accountancy, audit, corporate finance and taxation services.

Middlesbrough College is celebrating the recruitment of a leading figure in UK regional journalism to its teaching team.

From September, Peter Barron – the longest-serving editor in the history of The Northern Echo and a board member of the National Council for the Training of Journalists – will deliver specialist units on the college’s new BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production (Print Based) course.

Leading Scottish law firm Thorntons has increased its head count with the appointment of four newly-qualified solicitors.  All four have recently completed two-year traineeships with the firm.

Business organisation Aberdeen Inspired has appointed a new chief executive as it embarks on another five-year term.

Adrian Watson has been selected for the role and will join up with the organisation later this month. He will succeed Gary Craig who steps down after nearly two years in the position.

Paul Bunce has been promoted to the new role of commercial manager at Birmingham’s Conference Aston, following the promotion of Samantha Brown from sales director to head of conference centres.

The former marketing manager, who is celebrating 10 years at Conference Aston this year, officially took up the newly-created post in April and is responsible for three main areas of the business: sales, marketing and revenue.

Midland law firm mfg Solicitors has bolstered its employment and HR services division with two new appointments as it increases its regional presence.

Employment specialist Darryll Thomas has joined as an associate after seven years at West Midlands practice, The Wilkes Partnership, while Amy McGowan-Docherty joins as a paralegal.

Professional services firm KPMG has appointed Richard Turnbull as a partner to lead public sector tax in the Midlands as part of its national team.

Based in Birmingham, Richard joins the firm from Deloitte, where his role as an indirect tax partner saw him lead its national education tax team, providing advice to a range of clients on issues associated with their operations. At KPMG, he will focus on the issues facing the wider public sector including health, education, housing and local government, leading the firm’s tax advice on these matters in the Midlands.
