In order to support even more entrepreneurs in 2017, Transmit Start-Ups has extended its reach by establishing offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, opening up loan applications to Northern Ireland and revealing plans to open its first offices in London and Derby in the coming months.
In the last three years, Transmit Start-Ups has supported over 1,500 businesses, lending over £14m to entrepreneurs looking to bring their business ideas to life.
The first company supported in 2017 has taken out a loan of £10,000 through Transmit Start-Ups. Jeffrey Newnham, from Bexhill on Sea, has set up his business Pro-Glu Ltd., a company which specialises in the production of user-friendly, glue-on horseshoes for rehabilitating horses with damaged feet.
Managing director at Pro-Glu Jeffrey Newnham said: “After working for over 40 years in all areas of farriery and hoof care, I came up with the idea that developing a more temporary, easily removable horseshoe that could help horses with insufficient hoof wall for the safe nailing of horseshoes.
“Although I knew I had a great idea that would be popular within the equine industry, it took me a while to take that next step and start my own business. Now I’m delighted that we have officially launched our Pro-Glu horseshoe. It’s made from aluminium and bonded into a flexible polyurethane cover giving comfort to the sore hoof, enabling the horse to carry on with its daily activities whilst the hoof repairs itself.
“We’ve had amazing feedback on the product already, working with vets and horse owners worldwide. There really is nothing quite like seeing your idea brought to life!”
Richard Myers, commercial director at Transmit Start-Ups said: “2016 was an amazing year for us and we’re delighted that the first businesses that have come to us for support in 2017 have already received funding.
“We’re already looking ahead to 2017 and how we can help even more businesses. At the moment, we have only reached a fraction of future entrepreneurs with brilliant ideas, but our recent expansion in Scotland and Northern Ireland and the opening of offices in London and the East Midlands (Derby) will help us to reach even more – bringing more burning business ideas to life.”
