ACA, the Scottish one stop print finishing operation, is set to invest £400,000 in setting up a 4800 square metre sterile environment within its existing factory space at Inchinnan Business Park on the periphery of Glasgow International Airport.
The space, designed to handle the packaging materials for food products, will have its own entrance, toilet facilities, canteen and changing rooms. Work on the new sterile environment is scheduled to begin mid-February with completion expected at end of April.
Joe Keenan, MD, said: “We believe that ACA is capable of increasing annual turnover from its current level of £4.6m to £6m by 2020. A key part of our expansion plan lies in securing BRC accreditation to allow us to handle packaging work for the UK’s major food manufacturers.
“There are a variety of processes we are working on to gain the accreditation but the main one is the creation of a sterile environment and our plans are advanced to put this in place from later this year.
“We are successfully pursuing also a series of other important accreditations including ISO9001, the Living Wage and Carbon Neutrality.”
ACA believes itself to be the only one-stop print finishing business in the country and has a long-established history in providing the finishing touch to printing projects for its key partners in the print and design industry across the UK and Europe.
The company increased sales by almost 10% to £4.6m in the year to August 2017 as a result of a substantial effort by the new owners to have the business realise its true potential.
ACA has already spent £0.5m on repairing and restoring existing equipment as well as buying new state-of-the-art print finishing machinery.
In addition, a further £0.25m has been invested in new health & safety and HR processes, quality assurance and marketing. The number of employees has also increased by 14 to 82.
