The next Royal wedding is certainly a cause for celebration for many, but for Rotherham-based Gala Tent, there’s even more reason to raise a glass to the royal couple.
Gala Tent has seen a 30% increase in orders for garden marquees in the last month – which it attributes, in part, to people planning events to mark the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle.
Jason Mace, managing director of Gala Tent, said: “We saw a similar increase in marquee sales just before Prince William’s wedding back in 2011.
“In addition, it’s the FA Cup final on the same day after the wedding coverage has finished, so lots of people are seeing it as a chance for a double celebration.”
“People love to hold a party at home but often don’t have the space, whereas a garden marquee or gazebo can mean you can invite the whole family or all the neighbours.
“We’ve also had a number of enquiries from people organising street parties to mark the Royal occasion and looking for marquees or gazebos to provide cover.
“It’s a great opportunity for a community to get together and celebrate – and with a garden marquee you don’t need to worry about the weather!”
The company has seen the biggest rise in demand for the 3m x 2m Gala Tent marquee and 3m x 6m Gala Tent Marquee Pro.
Research by Key Note has revealed that people are spending more time entertaining at home, rather than going out, and that 80% of people see the garden as somewhere to relax and entertain friends and family.
Gala Tent offers a wide variety of marquees and gazebos that are quick and simple to put up.
Designed to withstand the worst of the British weather, some of the company’s products can withstand winds of up to 80mph.
Founded in 1999, Gala Tent has grown to sell over 10,000 tents and marquees each year, along with around 90,000 event accessories and furniture products in the UK.
In the UK, Gala Tent is a preferred supplier for organisations including the military, NHS, the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, South Yorkshire Police Service, St John’s Ambulance and AA, as well as to thousands of homeowners nationally.
