Aspire Development, a people management training consultancy based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, has today announced a string of new appointments and internal promotions.
The new-look team is to facilitate the re-structure of the business, allowing it to scale as a result of continued growth since launching its Management Apprenticeship offering in 2017, coupled with winning a number of new commercial client contracts.
Having achieved a turnover of £735,000 in 2017/18, Aspire Development is on track to increase this figure by over 60% at the end of the 2018/19 financial year to £1.2million.
With ambitious targets in place to increase this further to £1.7million in 2019/2020, the new structure of the business, supported by the newly recruited and promoted talent, means the figures are well within reach.
Alison Wheatly, operations director at Aspire Development, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to welcome new faces to the team, as well as internally promote existing members of staff, to create one big super-team across different divisions, that will allow us to grow and scale in line with our ambitious targets.

The restructure of the business now includes a dedicated compliance division, as a direct result of the business rolling out its Management Apprenticeship offering in 2017, in response to the Government’s Apprenticeship Levy in May 2017, whereby companies with a wage bill of over £3m must contribute 0.5% of this figure to a dedicated people training fund.
Subsequently, Ellie Laight joins the team as compliance officer and will be responsible for ensuring the quality of standards with the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s requirements. Working closing with Ellie in the newly-formed operations and quality division, Allison Branham-Tempest has been promoted to the role of Head of Quality and Standards, and will work to ensure all programmes delivered by Aspire Development meet Ofsted’s guidelines. Together, the pair will be responsible for building on the quality of courses, workshops and other people management training content delivered by the team at Aspire into the future.
Building on Aspire Development’s core commercial offering of bespoke management training and development courses, workshops and qualifications, both Leah Hammond and Iain Darren have been promoted to the positions of assessor and assessment team manager respectively, with Olenka Heppleston joining the workforce as an Assessment Co-Ordinator.
In other client-facing and training delivery roles, Sally Turgoose has been promoted to Learning and Development Manager, with Mark Ordish complementing the business’ skillset in the role of functional skills coach. Lastly, in terms of business support and back office staff, Josh Scanlon has been promoted to operations support officer, with Jordan Tynan joining the team as commercial manager.
The line-up of fresh faces at Aspire Development comes off the back of several new client wins for the team, seeing the business expand its portfolio of clients with now a strong foothold in Birmingham and the Midlands, working with organisations such as Wincanton plc and nmcn plc. As a result, Aspire’s final new starter as part of this string of promotions and new appointments is Katie Adams. Based in the Midlands, she joins the team as a development consultant, and has a strong background in learning and development, having spent a substantial amount of time working in-house in Marks and Spencer’s Training Department.
Wheatly continued: “I’m excited to see all of our team thrive in their new roles, and I’m particularly pleased to welcome Katie to the business as a result of our growth in Birmingham and the Midlands.
“While it’s hugely rewarding to bring new people into Aspire Development and watch them grow, Josh’s appointment also is particularly special to me. He first joined the business when undertaking his apprenticeship in business administration. Having watched him develop, both his skill-set and as a person, has been a real pleasure, and the icing on the cake was being able to offer him a full-time permanent role with us here in the team.
