BrandContent and Tramshed Tech share Creative Start-Up of the Year

This year’s Wales Start-Up Awards saw Cardiff-based BrandContent and Tramshed Tech win the award for Creative Start-Up of the Year after a split panel decision.

Over the last six-months BrandContent has bolstered its portfolio with new clients including The Harley Street Medical Area, Admiral Insurance, Innovation Point, a digital Bank in Dubai and two other tech-start-ups.

BrandContent’s award win marks the second consecutive award for the agency at The Wales Start-Up Awards in as many years after winning Services Start-up of The Year in 2016.

Tramshed Tech has had an equally successful year in developing its hub for creative industry and tech firms in the centre of Cardiff.

Though having only been in operation for a year, it has signed up some of Wales’ most exciting tech and creative firms, including social media analytics firms Blurrt, Wild Flame Media and Red and Black Films.

Speaking after receiving the award, Sharon Flaherty, founder and managing director at BrandContent said: “We’re obviously over the moon to receive this award in recognition of the hard work and effort the team has put in to the creative campaigns we have been putting out for our clients.

“We’re punching above our weight, bringing business into Wales, competing with London agencies for national clients and winning.

“We chose Wales for lifestyle reasons but that doesn’t mean we aren’t as good or better than London agencies so we are grabbing this misperception by the horns proving regional agencies can compete nationally!

“As a start-up, we’re committed to being part of the digital start-up ecosystem. Our work also helps tech start-ups attract inward investment driving prosperity in Wales.

“Every campaign centres on tangible outcomes; whether sales, web traffic, new customers or changing behaviours.”

The Wales Start-Up Awards, which are now in the second year of running, are dedicated to start-ups that have launched in the last three years.

The awards recognise the achievements of entrepreneurial individuals who have spotted business opportunities and taken the risks to launch a new product or service.

This year the awards received over 200 entries across the 16 categories.
