Tradespeople optimistic about 2016

Tradesmen and women including plumbers, electricians and carpenters are optimistic about the business outlook for this year, a new study has shown.

A survey of 500 tradespeople for retail firm Screwfix showed that two out of five were giving more quotes for work than a year ago and half said business was better.

Screwfix chief executive Andrew Livingston said: "2016 looks set to continue from a busy 2015 for the nation's tradespeople and many are feeling great optimism for the year ahead.

"This is very positive and certainly reflects the feedback we've seen from trade customers in our 458 stores."

Around one in seven said they had too much work on their books.
