The ‘digital home’ for Welsh people across the globe has announced three new founding patrons as part of its drive to recruit a total of 24 individuals and organisations to the initiative.

Philanthropist Bernard Jones, Admiral CEO David Stevens and Bangor University are the newest patrons to join the CIC initiative, which is preparing for the next phase of development.
David Stevens, CEO of Admiral, said that he joined GlobalWelsh because “increasing mobility has resulted in many talented people leaving Wales and achieving great things in all corners of the globe.
“Many of them want to help their home country prosper and realise its full potential. GlobalWelsh’s community building approach is an important part of helping them achieve that ambition”
Bernard Jones, described as “a Welsh dragon of purpose and passion” is a successful businessman and philanthropist with a passion for Welsh rugby.
Joining the team of founding patrons as a sector lead in education is Bangor University.
Bangor’s vice chancellor, Professor John G. Hughes, said: “We at Bangor University look forward to developing a greater engagement with Wales’ diaspora.
“As an international university with a strong Welsh identity, we recognise the value that Global Welsh can bring to creating stronger networks between people and organisations in Wales and overseas."
GlobalWelsh will launch its new platform and website this month, which will facilitate connections and opportunities for businesses and individuals.
Via the new website, supporters will be able to submit content, register interest in becoming a member, nominate a ‘World Class Welsh’ person and submit ‘Wonderful Welsh Stories’.
GlobalWelsh will also unveil plans to attract ‘pioneer members’ at a special event at the Principality Stadium on Nov 1st. Pioneer members will be the beating heart of the GlobalWelsh community.
GlobalWelsh founder Walter May commented: “With Bangor University as sector lead for education, we are delighted to have gained the perspective of one of Wales’ leading Universities, who have strong international links with many prestigious universities.
