Trade Chimp opens new HQ and starts hiring

Tech start-up Trade Chimp, which provides support to tradespeople and small trades businesses around the UK, has opened a head office at Hull's Centre for Digital Innovation, (C4DI).

At the same time, the company has announced the next stage of its expansion with an initial employee hiring phase to support increased levels of interest in its core markets and ambitious plans for the year ahead.

Zoe Overment, marketing director, said: “C4DI offers excellent, high-quality office facilities at the heart of an incredibly innovative and tech-savvy environment.

“We're surrounded by other similar-minded businesses who will be able to support our development in a space that gives us an ideal base from which to grow.”

Trade Chimp, which launched in September last year, will initially hire two new staff, one in sales, one in marketing.

Sam Overment, managing director, said: “Although we are a relatively small start-up, we are ambitious and have a lot in the pipeline.

“We are targeting a very specific market and a particular type of end user.

“We want to build the business up in a sustainable way and appoint employees who will buy-in to the Trade Chimp ethos of great customer service that supports a high-quality product.”

John Connolly, managing director C4DI, said: “Trade Chimp is a forward-thinking, innovative company and an ideal fit for C4DI which has proven to be a fertile breeding ground for tech start-ups.

“The directors have a crystal-clear vision of where they want to take the company and which all of us here are keen to support the best we can.”

The news follows a business development tie-up with software development experts Arc Studios, also based at C4DI, in a joint venture product development deal that will see hundreds of thousands invested into Trade Chimp over the coming years.

The agreement between the two Hull-based companies saw Arc Studios, who built the bespoke software and user-friendly Trade Chimp app, take an undisclosed equity stake in the company.

Arc Studios is providing ongoing support in the form of new and improved features to the app, such as integration add-ons so that users can link up their Trade Chimp system with their preferred accounting package.

Trade Chimp is suitable for trades business with up to 10 staff, including electricians, plumbers and gas fitters.

The user-friendly job management software package consisting of two parts. There is the main web app that's designed for the owner/operator of the business, and a separate mob app for the staff.

It can be downloaded on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop, and is accessible 24/7 from any internet-enabled device.

While a vital part of the app is helping to reduce trades' companies' dependence on paper timesheets, diaries, spreadsheets, and help deal with payroll and invoices, it also helps open-up the potential of businesses' data.

Trade Chimp's unique app can utilize company’s data, such as invoices, receipts, and timesheets, providing monthly Business Intelligence reports that clearly show where profits are coming from, which workers are the most valuable to the business, and which type of jobs are not performing.
