The JigTalk team
JigTalk, the dating app that encourages online daters to look past the mindless swiping of selfies and talk more, has officially closed its seed round of $1m.
The investment round was led by Apadmi Ventures and includes significant backing from high profile London, New York and Manchester-based angel investors.
In addition to growing its team to 10 full-time staff, the company has also welcomed a new Chairman, Christopher Edmonds.
Edmonds is the ex-global MD of technology for JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley. He had worked with high scale tech companies throughout his career, previously with 2 angel investments which were both successfully sold to Google and Bloomberg.
Christopher will join Apadmi Ventures on the board and JigTalk expects to make another high profile appointment to its board in the coming months ahead.
Over the course of the last 2 years, JigTalk has BETA tested the app in the north of England and built a team ready to launch its application UK-wide, starting in London in January 2019.
JigTalk also completed NASDAQ’s Milestone Makers business accelerator in San Francisco in late 2017, the first UK company to do so.
Alex Durrant and Max Adamski are the founders at the helm of JigTalk, CEO and head of product respectively. Earlier this year Danielle Poleski was promoted to head of digital and the team has expanded from 3 people to 10, now based in Manchester and Canada.
JigTalk is looking forward to the year ahead, taking on the dating giants of the world with a more mindful approach to dating.
