Walsall College ranked one of the best in the country

Walsall College has been rated joint third in a league table of colleges published by education magazine FE Week.

The table was compiled using a points based system, with points awarded against a number of key criteria published by the Department of Education. Over 200 colleges were scored out of a possible 16.

Walsall College scored 14 out of 16 including top marks for learner satisfaction. The college also received the maximum marks for a high number of students progressing to employment after successful completion of their studies.

Principal and chief executive, Jatinder Sharma OBE, said: “Our focus has always been to ensure we consistently put students on the right pathway for success through our exceptional facilities, outstanding vocational training and excellent employer partnerships.

“Students are at the heart of everything we do at the college and getting them work ready is what we pride ourselves on, so we are delighted this has been recognised.”

In March 2013 Walsall College made history by becoming the first 'Outstanding' general further education college, under the then new inspection framework in the UK, and the first ever to receive a grade one in the Black Country.
