Marine Energy Systems are the innovators behind a new offshore platform which harnesses electricity from the motion of waves.
Their product, the WaveSub, can generate up to 5 megawatts of power for the national grid, or enough to power 5,000 homes. A farm of wave subs would be able to cut CO2 emissions by hundreds of thousands of tonnes over its lifetime.
Here, Dr Gareth Stockman from Marine Energy Systems, explains how the platform works and what it could mean for the local energy industry.
