Monarch to create 75 jobs in Birmingham

The engineering arm of budget airline Monarch is creating 75 jobs at its Birmingham Airport base.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering is planning to expand the team at Birmingham Airport to 250.

The hub provides maintenance and testing services to Monarch, as well as other companies.

Almost all the positions being created are for skilled engineers to carry out maintenance on a variety of aircrafts, including the latest generation Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Monarch Aircraft Engineering is also supporting hundreds of positions at more than 20 supplier companies based in the region such as Air Kraft, Blue City Aviation and Monks & Crane.

The Birmingham Post reports Chris Dare, managing director of Monarch Aircraft Engineering, said: "Since we opened our Birmingham facility in 2013, we’ve been proud to play a role in developing skills and talent, and creating jobs in the region.

"Demand for the maintenance services we offer at Birmingham is growing year on year and we have every expectation of creating further new skilled engineering positions in 2017."
