Those of us that work in science and engineering roles know that many of these jobs result in leading edge technologies, products and services. Engineering isn’t just about repairing cars, it’s also about designing new products, pushing the boundaries of technology and being creative.
In general, younger people are not encouraged to take up engineering careers which has led to a shortage of suitably trained skilled staff. They are not informed about how engineering can be creative and exciting and often do not even consider this direction for their future.
At the MMN ‘Joy of engineering’ event we will present case studies to show how engineering is challenging, creative and exciting. Speakers will present their own stories about how they get enjoyment within their jobs and how young people are preparing for a future in engineering.
