The South Wales packaging business has purchased a new 67,000 sq ft premises and will create 27 new jobs after securing a £2.8m finance facility from HSBC.
Heathpak Ltd, which has been operating in the region for almost 20 years, recently moved to the new state-of-the-art factory and headquarters after outgrowing its former 12,000 sq ft rented property.
The new premises is based on the Pen y Fan Industrial Estate in Crumlin.
The funding package from HSBC is made up of a £1.5 million commercial mortgage and £1.3 million working capital facility which will help Heathpak recruit seven new members of staff, support future expansion and the purchase of packaging equipment.
A further 20 new jobs will be created over the next 12 months.
Alan Heath, Founder of Heathpak, said: “We’ve been working with HSBC for 15 years, but it’s been in the last three that we’ve seen accelerated growth thanks to a new piece of equipment the bank funded in 2015.
“After that, we began steadily outgrowing our former premises before deciding to make our first property purchase this year.
“The new factory is in a better location for transport and logistics and will help us with our future growth aspirations. HSBC has been instrumental in making this latest venture possible.”
Warren Lewis, HSBC’s head of commercial banking in South Wales, added: “We are proud to have been supporting Heathpak for so many years, in which time we’ve seen the business go from strength-to-strength.
“This has been an exciting project to work on and we look forward to seeing the business continue its ambitious growth plans and contribute to the success of the local economy.”
Heathpak’s new facility will help it manufacture more solidboard and corrugated packaging for meat and fish companies across the UK and Ireland, which are increasingly exporting their products to countries like China.
With the elimination of plastics high on the agenda, Heathpak’s recycled and recyclable waterproof packaging is an environmentally sustainable alternative.
