Originally produced and sold in the US, Matcha NOW, the increasingly popular twist-n-shake matcha drink, entered the UK market only late last year.
The eco-friendly brand saw the importance of sourcing water from the country it’s being sold in and therefore made the decision to move manufacturing across the pond.
Using a state-of-the-art water process located at Bottling UK in Leicester, the water in Matcha NOW drinks undergoes toxic mineral removal, sterile plate filtration, UV light treatment, and carbon block, ensuring the best quality result for consumers. Additionally, Matcha NOW has completely removed the shrink-wrap labels, making the product fully recyclable and using less energy to manufacture.
Founder of Matcha NOW, Janine Marshall comments, “We are so proud to be able to bottle Matcha NOW in the UK with UK-sourced water, to offer a product made on our home ground. Our next steps are to ensure we are looking after the environment as much as we can by looking at compostable bottle materials.
“Our current bottle has just recently undergone removal of the shrink-wrap label to ensure we are using less energy in the processes and making the bottle 100% recyclable. We will also be looking into reward schemes for customers to return the caps back to us to be re-manufactured into new materials for future bottling of Matcha NOW!"
Matcha has 137x the antioxidant power of regular green tea, however, pre-mixed matcha has been proven to dramatically lose its potency through oxidisation during the production process. This means all those incredible health benefits, such as boosting metabolism, increasing focus and creativity, decreasing stress levels and helping to improve sleep and other vital bodily functions are wasted.
But thanks to Matcha NOW, matcha tea is always as fresh as the day it was made. Its patented twist-cap technology keeps the organic, ceremonial-grade matcha fresh in a compartment in the top of the bottle, unmixed with the water below. When you want to actually drink it, twist the cap to release the powder into the water, shake and then drink.
