Visiting Chinese surgeons tour JRI Orthopaedics’s Sheffield manufacturing facility with the company’s Business Manager for Asia Dennis Chung.
Leading orthopaedic surgeons from China and Brazil have been visiting the multi-award winning Sheffield healthcare company JRI Orthopaedics.
A delegation of 18 specialist hip surgeons from throughout China toured JRI’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Chapeltown.
Eleven months ago, the company secured regulatory approval to sell its high quality cemented, uncemented and revision hip product portfolio in China and signed an exclusive distribution deal with Beijing-based AK Medical - China’s largest domestic orthopaedic producer.
It is also sub-manufacturing AK Medical implants at Chapeltown for sale in China
The Chinese surgeons also visited JRI Orthopaedic’s recently opened UK Centre of Excellence for joint replacement at Castle Hill Hospital, Hull.

JRI Orthopaedics, which employs 105 people, has world-class expertise in the design, development and manufacture of orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments.
The company has also just hosted a group of top orthopaedic surgeons from Brazil where the company launched its award-winning
VAIOS was developed by JRI working with biomechanical engineers at Newcastle University and world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Professor Angus Wallace from Nottingham.
The Brazilian delegation not only visited JRI’s manufacturing facility but observed live shoulder surgery at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital and underwent a cadaver masterclass at Keele University.
