Since the launch of Gigabit City Leeds in autumn 2016, B2B Telecoms provider Diva Telecom, the chosen Leeds partner of CityFibre, have been busy revolutionising the Leeds business community with a new niche service – ultrafast, future-proof business broadband, which is completely separate from BT and Virgin.
The impact this has had on Leeds companies so far has been immense, given the poor and restricted connectivity options previously available in the city. In particular, the reception from Leeds’s thriving digital sector and their ever-increasing demand for bandwidth has been overwhelming, generating a significant share of Diva Telecom’s overall Gigabit customer base. Leeds businesses Parall.ax, Creode and Subpixel (SALT) are just a few of those who have benefited so far.
Gigabit City Leeds has also been reaching the likes of manufacturers, recruitment companies, accountancy firms and commercial landlords. For example, BWD Search and Selection spotted how having access to top speeds would provide them with a superior competitive edge.
Whereas e-commerce agency, Vortex Commerce, decided to make the move over to Leeds and were looking for a premise on The Headrow, with access to high bandwidths being a core requirement.
Bruce Mead, Vortex’s managing director said, “We’ve found that ultrafast internet speeds are business critical for the line of work we specialise in. Hearing about CityFibre’s network and Diva Telecom’s involvement timed perfectly with our move to Leeds.”
Design and clothing company, Cohen and Wilks International, decided to convert based on Gigabit Fibre’s affordability.
“Based on price it was an easy decision for us to change to Gigabit Fibre. The cost difference between 100MB and 1 GB was so minute – it just made no business sense not to go ahead” commented their IT manager, Hid Sugiura.
Diva’s Gigabit Fibre is fast becoming the go-to connectivity option for growing companies in Leeds and is even more accessible to SMEs thanks to the new Digital Enterprise Voucher Scheme, which supports businesses in the Leeds City region to invest in new digital technologies and services.
