IT recruitment agency Computer Recruiter has launched a new website with the aim of connecting South Wales’ 40,000 strong tech community.
The Cardiff-based firm has launched TechEvents.Wales to provide tech enthusiasts with news and information about all the latest tech meetups and events in their area.
The website collects data from event sites such as Meetup, Eventbrite, and Facebook, and then lists them on the homepage along with the date, location and a link to the event page.
Visitors can then find events or meetups in their local area and get more information - all from one place.
Bernard Morgan, co-founder and general manager of Computer Recruiter, said the website is the perfect place for anyone wanting to connect with the digital community.
“The tech sector in Wales is constantly growing and evolving, and as more businesses push more products and services digitally, this is only going to grow further.
“The website will also include a regular blog with write-ups and reviews of tech events, interviews with event organisers, guest posts and advice on setting up and running events so that more people can share their passion for tech in Wales.
“We are also looking for anyone who would like to get involved with the blog aspect of the website to get in touch, we are always looking to showcase advice and opinion from event holders or regular attendees.”
There are dozens of events already lined-up this month in South Wales, with broad topics covered, ranging from web development, user interface and search engine optimization to start-ups and cybersecurity.
Steph Locke from Locke Data, who runs the MSFT Stack and Cardiff R meetups, said the site will make it easier for her events to make a difference to more people.
“I’ve been running meetups for seven years now and each event makes a difference to at least one person who attends.
“Having the events listed in one easy place online will help me reach more people who can get something useful out of my groups.
“TechEvents.Wales makes it really clear how big our local community is and I expect it will help us make an even bigger difference as a community.”
Computer Recruiter is South Wales’ longest established IT recruitment agency, having supported IT professionals for over 27 years.
The company first had the idea for the calendar after running a recurring blog for its 25th anniversary, and following its success wanted to do something more concrete.
The website will act as a one-stop-shop for anyone wanting to further connect to South Wales’ tech scene, with the events, information and reviews together in one place.
