The Aberdeen-based firm is preparing to take delivery of some of the most sophisticated winches in the world from manufacturer Ingersoll Rand, a leader in material handling equipment, and will add the equipment to its sale and rental inventory before the end of the year.
The firm has secured 10 of Ingersoll Rand’s MR150 Man Rider winches following their global launch, with the units designed specifically for the lifting and lowering of people in harsh environments. Used extensively offshore for access in repair and maintenance operations, the Ingersoll Rand Man Rider series of winches has been used extensively on North Sea platforms.
The new model was showcased at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi and was recognised by customers and the industry for incorporating more safety features than previous Ingersoll Rand designs. With a lift capacity of 150kg, it has subsea capability in addition to its surface applications.
MB Air Systems director Steve Harkin said: “We have developed an excellent relationship with Ingersoll Rand and are delighted to be bringing the MR150 to the region. Our confidence in the equipment is underlined by our investment and we anticipate strong demand, both from a sales and rental perspective.
“There are clear challenges in the sector at present but we are committed to sensible investment. The new winches will meet what we consider to be a clear demand, particularly given the safety enhancements they offer.”
