The app allows customers to navigate around intu Merry Hill centre quickly and easily, highlighting offers from retailers as the user walks past.
The navigating tool looks and feels very similar to the maps that most of us already use on smartphones, and guides shoppers to their chosen destination using a blue dot.
It’s one of the first of its kind for use inside a shopping centre in the UK and will compliment the shopping centres free high-bandwidth wifi network.
intu Merry Hill’s marketing manager, Rob Pickersgill, said: “intu Merry Hill is the fifth largest shopping centre in the UK with over 200 stores, including retail, café’s, restaurants and banking and we have free car parking for over 10,000 cars.
“We want our visitors to get the best experience and our new app is easy, interactive and fun. The app will be constantly updated with offers from our stores and in addition to the store locator handy info like toilets, exits and escalators are clearly marked.
“Of course, intu’s mall staff are always on hand to help out, with the app and any other issues.”
The app, was initially trialled and tested across a number of student shopping night events in September and has been given the go-ahead after receiving positive feedback.
