The report released today (22 Feb) is a celebration of the UK’s fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium sized businesses.
To be included in the list, companies needed to show ‘consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years, significantly outperforming their industry peers.’
Fintech firm Nostrum, a provider of digital lending technology to banks, finance companies and retail brands, has made the list for the second year in a row.
Almost eight in 10 of the UK's fastest growing companies have headquarters outside London, according to the research, with Nostrum helping fly the flag for Yorkshire.
Nostrum Group chief executive, Richard Carter, said: “We are delighted to be featured in the 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, for the second consecutive year.
“It’s an honour to be part of such an inspiring group of innovative companies, all great representatives of British SMEs.”
The company’s success, according to Carter, is down to a dedicated and highly skilled workforce and thorough market research.
He added: “We champion innovation and look for those who understand our consumer-focused values, but recruiting the type of people who can add value to our company is our biggest challenge. Our staff are at the core of our success.”
Writing in the publication, Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne praised companies such as Nostrum for the major impact they’re having on the UK economy.
He said: “UK high-growth businesses are leading the charge in rebuilding our economy.
“These companies are the backbone of the British economy. They create high-quality, well paid jobs, innovate and drive economic growth.”
