eoSurgical wins Scottish EDGE award

Edinburgh start up, eoSurgical, has been endorsed by the Scottish EDGE funding award, giving a huge boost to its mission of making surgery safer globally by providing accessible skills-training tools.

Set up by a team of surgeons, eoSurgical has created innovative surgical simulator hardware and performance-assessment software, enabling surgeons to improve their skills in a simulated environment, away from patients.

The company has created a range of simulators for minimally-invasive (key-hole) surgery and micro-surgery and has recently launched an innovative software program, SurgTrac, to provide surgeons with real-time objective feedback on their skills progression as they complete a curriculum of tasks.

The company was named as a winner at round 8 of the Scottish EDGE competition and awarded the maximum prize of £100,000.

Scottish EDGE is a competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s up-and-coming, innovative, high-growth entrepreneurial talent.

Over 230 businesses applied to round 8, and eoSurgical were one of 22 finalists invited to pitch before a panel of judges.

The funding from Scottish EDGE will help eoSurgical to continue to develop their unique surgical simulation software through the creation of a mobile application for SurgTrac.

Furthermore, the funding will allow eoSurgical to significantly expand their presence in both national and international markets, and support a global launch of SurgTrac.
