Jeremy Kyle lab receives royal acclaim

The Warrington-based DNA testing laboratory used by the Jeremy Kyle show is celebrating after being honoured with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

AlphaBiolabs played host to David Briggs, the lord lieutenant of Cheshire yesterday, who presented the company with its award.

Briggs presented director Rachel Davenport with a crystal bowl and commemorative certificate, signed by the Queen and Prime Minister to represent the Queen’s Award, which was given in light of the laboratory’s achievement in offering the fastest DNA result service in the world.

AlphaBiolabs director Rachel Davenport said: “With the TV show requiring a faster than usual DNA testing service, we invested in top of the range technology and adjusted our process timings to meet its needs.

“Once that was in place however, it was appropriate for us to offer our next day service, the fastest in the world, not just to the programme but to all of our customers.

“We’re delighted that the commitment and dedication demonstrated by the whole AlphaBiolabs team has been recognised and rewarded in this way”.

The Queen’s Award is considered to be one of the most highly regarded business awards in the UK and is issued to only a handful of firms each year, with winners announced on the Queen’s birthday.
