Student High Street to support young designers

A young London entrepreneur is working alongside the former chairman of Fat Face to launch a new website helping nurture some of the UK’s most emerging fashion designers.

Student High Street, founded by Tom Grafton (25) and chaired by Clive Beharrell, not only provides a platform for budding designers to sell their products, but also helps train them as entrepreneurs.

Tom came up with the idea while studying at Exeter University. As a student, he founded a loyalty scheme for local businesses and saw how little support there was for creators of new brands.

He told BQ: “A lot of young brands have a great idea and great product but fall down with elements such as accounting or marketing, or setting up a site that makes it easy for people to buy their goods.Student High Street Brands

“Through Student High Street we can provide these brands the infrastructure they need to reach their potential.”

The support on offer from Student High Street includes accountancy support from Xero, logistics advice from CollectPlus, industry support from the UKFT, legal support from Spring Law and funding Support from FundingXchange.

The site is set to officially launch on 7 November and will open to the general public on 21 November.
