The event, which took place at St. James’ Palace, was established by the Duke of York and in its three years of running has helped over 205 businesses.
Drenched was one of three businesses to win at this year’s Pitch@Palace for its water-saving and energy efficient technology.
Its hero product ‘The Volumiser’ saves 90% more water than its nearest rival on the market.
Founder and managing director of Drenched Wes Sugden-Brook says that winning Pitch@Palace was "surreal" and that his "head was spinning".
The Queen attended the start of the event hosted by her son the Duke, met some of the entrepreneurs and was in the audience for Wes’ pitch, before leaving for another engagement.
"It was such a privilege just to be there in that environment, but to be the only one who pitched to HM The Queen was unbelievable, that still hasn’t sunk in," he said.
"It felt like we’d already won just being there, the whole night was fantastic, the room was full of high calibre investors including a high-level delegation from the Chinese government. I also spoke to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and Peter Jones, which was incredible."
Wes has already sat down with a potential investor and visited Windsor Castle, at the invitation of the Duke, to meet with a group from Silicon Valley.
Based at the Natwest Powered Entrepreneurial Spark Hatchery, in Leeds, Wes says that Entrepreneurial Spark has really helped him to focus: "The guys at Entrepreneurial Spark have really helped. They stopped me spinning around, because everything was moving so fast for the business. The focus and clarity they gave me has been absolutely invaluable."
Leeds enabler Melinda O’Reilly in turn says that she was not surprised that Wes won Pitch@Palace: "Wes is so driven and has become so credible, now to see him win this is just fantastic!".
Lucy-Rose Walker, CEO of Entrepreneurial Spark said: "What fantastic news for Wes, for Drenched and for the team in Leeds. Entrepreneurial Spark Powered by NatWest is enabling businesses like Drenched every day to #GoDo and push themselves further.
"Melinda’s work with Wes is a great example of how we make entrepreneurs credible, backable and investable."
