The trailblazers: people in business

As the Business Growth Hub celebrates five successful years of supporting the businesses of Greater Manchester, we take a look at some of the ways jobs are being created, skills fostered, and leaders developed in our businesses.

MADISON MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

Founded in 2009, Madison Medical Professionals specialises in recruitment of medical professionals to general practice, walk in centres, prisons, hospitals, and other specialist medical services. The company has been planning to grow, to increase recruitment services to both candidates and clients.

In the last 12 months, the workforce has doubled with the appointment of a finance manager, trainee recruitment consultant and quality manager.

Working with the workforce development team at the Business Growth Hub, they had support to develop a mission, vision and values which will be in place by January 2017 and will link into the new branding, performance management processes, advice around staff development and training in sales techniques.

2017 is expected to see an additional £100,000 of turnover with the creation of at least 2 more jobs.

FULL CIRCLE EVENTS AND EXHIBITIONS

Full Circle Events & Exhibitions specialise in designing and building stands for exhibitors.

They operate as a self-sufficient event manager, meaning they offer a complete range of in-house services to guarantee a simple, cost efficient experience for their clients and consistently applied objectives for their brand.

It was vital for the team to ensure their existing processes and procedures were robust enough to support the business through a period of growth.

With a diverse team all doing very different jobs, on different contracts, in different conditions, the Business Growth Hub stepped in to help them standardise their induction process, and manage performance to make sure they rewarded their team.

They are well on their way to implementing these practises, focussing on attracting new employees and retaining high performers.

The business is looking to continue to remain a market leader within the sector and wants to ensure that all employees can develop within their roles.  The new workforce development procedures are being embedded in the organisation so it can make the best of future opportunities.

Businesses across Greater Manchester can still benefit from a range of support to help them develop their skills at an executive level, and to nurture their entire workforce.

The Hub's team of dedicated workforce development advisors are ideally placed to come into your business, assess how you currently operate, learn about your priorities and suggest how you can best invest in your workforce to make your business grow.

Even the smallest of businesses can benefit hugely from some coaching from a person outside of the business, you don't need to employ a big team to take advantage of the help the Hub can offer.
