Venturefest South Innovator: Henwig

Henwig have produced event photography software Imaculum to make it easier for photographers to organise and sell their images. We caught up with them ahead of tomorrow's Venturefest South event to find out more.

Describe your business in no more than 100 words

Imaculum event photography software has been created by photographers for photographers. We’ve created an easy to use product that organises ‘workflow’ and turns images into new sales opportunities within seconds.

What prompted you to enter the Innovation Zone? Describe the innovation that you’ve entered with.

In terms of freelance event photography, we believe that there is a real need, and gap in the market to offer this community a piece of event photography software which makes complex image and data processes accessible, simple to use and the key thing affordable for photographers and event organisers everywhere.

We’re using up to the minute technology, such as face recognition software so that photographers can place their images on sale in seconds. Their customers are then able to view, choose and purchase their favourite photos with ease in real time.

For the freelancer, Imaculum automates the multiple workflow actions that are required to make sharing, viewing, purchasing, printing and digital distribution possible. Imaculum also collects customer data, along with opt in/out to marketing material from the photographer and event host and because this process is automated, the photographer can continue to capture images.

We believe Imaculum is a truly innovative offer to the photography community. 

How would you describe that to a novice?

Imaculum is a cutting edge piece of event photography software. It has been created by photographers for photographers to save time and create new business opportunities.

Imaculum has been created with ‘ease of use’ in mind. Essentially, the software organises an event photographer’s images and workflow in real-time at the event they're shooting at. By using face recognition technology their customers are taken directly to their images making it easy to view, compare and immediately buy their favourite images.

What are the biggest challenges you face?

Having already overcome a lot of technological challenges, our current biggest challenge is now raising awareness of our product to the freelance photography community.

What are your biggest professional achievements to date?

Producing Imaculum - it has been a long, hard journey.

How do you feel about showcasing to potentially hundreds of people at Venturefest South?

Apart from my real life baby, this is my firstborn so I’m excited to share Imaculum with like-minded souls, get their feedback and share our software with a new audience.

What are you hoping to get out of attending Venturefest South?

We’re all about connecting with others and learning something new.

Where do you see your company in five years time?

I’d like to see Henwig as a well-respected brand within the event photography sector, which is well known for innovative products and a customer focused service.

What advice would you give to aspiring innovators?

Just. Keep. Going. We frequently hear of people becoming an overnight sensation/success. In reality, the person has probably been working incredibly hard for a long time to put them into the position whereby they can become an ‘overnight’ success.

But if you believe in what you’re doing, and that it adds value to a community then keep on going. After all it's important to ‘give yourself the gift of creating those personal projects that really make you feel alive’- Penny des los Santos.
