What prompted you to enter the Innovation Showcase competition? Describe the innovation that you’ve entered the showcase with.
We were excited to be part of a Manchester event highlighting digital innovation and pleased to make the final. The innovation is our tech solution, The Link App. We already tie in key functionality like document sharing and e-signing. Our roadmap includes many more exciting features.
How would you describe that to a novice?
The Link App, a cloud-based encrypted professional to client communication channel, which delivers updates instantly and securely.
What are the biggest challenges you face?
Continuing to stay ahead of the curve in terms of a technical development and innovation to make sure our product is a market leader in our space. Continuing to successfully raise investment at appropriate junctures to scale our business.
What are your biggest professional achievements to date?
The Link App partners with some of the biggest names in law to deliver our product. I am proud that the reputation we have achieved has enabled us to attain this boost in credibility. I believe these partnerships add demonstrable weight to the fact there are real problems being solved by using our product.
How do you feel about exhibiting to potentially hundreds of people at Venturefest Manchester?
I am in the fortunate position to have presented the business a number of times and also be engaged as public speaker. However, this is an important event to us and it will still invoke nerves on the day, I’m sure.
What would winning the Innovation Showcase mean to your business?
It will be a huge achievement for the Link App, particularly because the focus is on innovation. We would be delighted to win and get this recognition as a Manchester business. I am also particularly passionate about highlighting what Manchester has to offer from a digital and tech perspective and would love to use this platform to showcase that.
Where do you see your company in five years time?
As the communication platform of choice between professionals and clients globally; the answer to what is next after email.
What advice would you give to aspiring innovators?
I found it particularly valuable that the innovation I created was in a space I knew very well. Our initial target market was law firms, and I was a qualified lawyer with real experience of the pain points this sector experiences through lack of technology and innovation. Sticking to a sector that you know at least as a starting point gives credibility when raising funding or building a team.
