Tyneside marketing agency in Manchester expansion

A marketing agency on Tyneside is opening a new office in Manchester amid strong growth and an expanding list of national clients.

Newcastle-based Independent Events works with businesses and public sector organisations to create memorable customer experiences and events.

Recent clients include Coca-Cola and Crabbies, retailers River Island and boohoo.com, corporations such as Knight Frank and shoe brands K-Swiss, Clarks and MBT.

Ferry operator DFDS, shopping centres Eldon Garden and Dalton Park, Gateshead College and the Tyne and Wear Metro are also among the firm’s core clients.

Having grown annual turnover by 47% in 2015 and by 30% the previous year, the company is now looking to expand into the North West.

Director Danae Abadom said: “While we have a strong presence in the North East, and the region will always be our base, we are increasingly being approached by national and international brands.

“Manchester is fast becoming a creative centre to match London and we believe being there will expose us to bigger opportunities.”

Danae co-founded Independent Events with fellow director Kerry Fairlie in 2007, after the pair collaborated as freelancers on various events.

The business, based in the Quayside i4 building in Newcastle, has since grown up a team of six full-time staff and several more contractors.

The company’s expansion was aided recently by GrowthAccelerator – the government-backed initiative that supports ambitious, high-growth businesses.
