Record year for Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Yorkshire’s Doncaster Sheffield Airport is celebrating a record breaking year for cargo as 2015 saw more freight handled than ever before.

The airport, through operator Anglo World Cargo, has managed consignments across the globe, including Nepal, Kenya, Venezuela, USA and key European destinations such as Greece and France.

Gary Winterman, managing director of Anglo World Cargo, said: “This is a fantastic result for the airport and the cargo handling team.

“It is clear that more and more companies are looking at Doncaster Sheffield Airport as the solution to their air cargo needs, which is great news for the airport and the regional economy.

“We have continued to build some excellent relationships with our clients over the last year and we’re excited about what 2016 will bring.”

The airport’s cargo terminal consists of 12,000 sq ft of operational space and has a full range of equipment and facilities capable of handling any aircraft.

Dayle Hauxwell, cargo manager for Doncaster Sheffield Airport, added: “We are delighted to say that 2015 was officially our busiest year for cargo ever.

“Over the last 12 months, the airport and its partners have taken a significant step forward in demonstrating our capability to the market as the only sensible choice for cargo in the UK.

“We’re delighted with the progress we are making towards our long term ambition of establishing Doncaster Sheffield as the obvious choice for cargo in the UK and it is already looking like we will continue to grow strongly in the year ahead.”
