J Denham Metals Ltd, which has sites in Wingate, East Durham, and Bishop Auckland, has committed significant investment in creating international links as it extends its global reach.
The recycling specialist, which has been in operation for over 50 years, is responding to a shift in the demand from UK Steelworks for recycled metals.
Over the years, J Denham Metals have diversified in order to keep up with regional needs, and currently export around 100 containers via regional hubs to countries around the world including Spain, India, and Turkey.
However, the recent investment means that the current loading capacity can be doubled, as well as additional staff being required to assist with the growth.
Chris Trotter, business development manager for J Denham Metals Ltd said:
“We found that our end user market was beginning to rarely be regional or even UK based, so we decided the time was right to branch out into the overseas markets to allow the business to develop further.
“Diversification to the export markets has not been easy and significant investments have been made in a number of areas to allow the purchasing, transportation, processing and exportation of materials to be seamless.”
J Denham Metals are now loading across both of their sites and believe they will continue to see high volumes of work throughout the rest of the year.
