Liverpool based Izzy Melody designs, develops and implements innovative baby care products in the ‘supportingsoothing’ category in the nursery industry.
The company’s launch product, the Izzy Melody BabyBangle, a multi-functional baby teething ring that also supports oral and motor skills from birth to toddler age, has been a global hit since its 2013 launch.
UK stockists include John Lewis and Mothercare, with the company also expanding its distribution and contacts worldwide through the support of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
Izzy Melody has been working with UKTI on its export offering to Australia, China, Italy, South Africa and Greece. Trade shows organised by UKTI across the UK and Europe have become Izzy Melody’s main route to market, and have enabled the company to experience exponential growth.
In order to support the growth triggered by success at home and abroad, further investment is now needed. Izzy Melody aims to use the money raised through the crowdfunding campaign for the development and IPO tie ups of the product collections which are being anticipated by their current and new customers, increased staffing and purchasing in more economical quantities.
Izzy Melody’s founder and managing director Alissa Koopal, said: “We are very excited to invite people to invest - with an extremely tight budget and small team, we have managed to lay a sound foundation for Izzy Melody to build on and we have proven that this type of product works in a retail environment and is loved by parents, and now is the time for us to blossom and make the most of this.
“The support from UKTI means we now have a structure and a support network behind us to strengthen and establish our exports in new markets – this crowdfunding campaign is the next stage of our growth, and I’m looking forward to speaking to potential investors about Izzy Melody’s exciting future.”
Clive Drinkwater, North West regional director for UKTI added: “Alissa has been working with UKTI to identify agents and distributors following enquiries from markets such as the USA, Canada and China for her baby bangles.
“We have seen that there is significant demand for Alissa’s product around the world, and I hope that she will be able to take advantage of those opportunities with the help of the investment sought under this scheme. UKTI is looking forward to working with Alissa to help find buyers in more overseas markets and we are very excited to see the company continue to grow.”
