Exporters focus on Argentina

A minister is leading the government's first trade mission to Argentina in 10 years as UK exporters look to Latin America.

Trade and investment minister Lord Price said he wants to strengthen trade relations with Latin America's third largest economy.

He is set to visit Argentina today (5 May) where he will also call for progress on a free trade deal.

Lord Price said: "If we are to improve our exports to Latin America, it's vital that we not only build stronger trade ties with traditional trading partners like Colombia, but build on renewed relationships like that with Argentina.

"The growing economies of Latin America offer huge opportunity for British business."

According to the latest research by UKTI, Argentina was the UK’s fourth largest export market in South America last year with exports worth £289m.

Some of the most popular exports included medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, non ferrous metals and professional and scientific instruments.
