Visitors flock to the North East’s first Hilton Garden Inn

Tourists from across the globe are booking in to stay at the North East’s first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Sunderland.

The new 141-room hotel, situated directly opposite the Stadium of Light, is the only one of its kind between Birmingham and Glasgow.

It was officially opened by the mayor of Sunderland, cllr Barry Curran earlier this week (3 May) and has already received enquiries from as far afield as Germany, Holland and the USA.

“This is a fantastic development for Sunderland and the wider North East,” said cllr Curran.

“There was a real sense of anticipation across the city while construction was underway and I am sure the venue will be warmly embraced now that doors are open.”

Work on the Hilton Garden Inn, Sunderland, which took around a year to complete, was managed by Tolent Construction Ltd and professional services provider, Turner & Townsend plus many other North East-based companies.
