More new routes for LBA

Having outlined ambitious plans to increase the airports offering to 100 destinations by 2030, Leeds Bradford Airport is celebrating after landing a further two new services for summer 2017. and Jet2holidays have launched their largest holiday programme from Leeds Bradford Airport yet with two new services to Costa Brava (Girona) and Naples for summer next year.

With the addition of these latest destinations more than 300 weekly flights will operate over the summer season next year. 

The introduction of an eleventh aircraft also means over 1.5 million seats will be available, a 15% growth year on year.

Tony Hallwood, aviation development director at Leeds Bradford, said: “We’ve had a really positive start to the 201617 year and we expect this to continue.

“Through our drive to introduce new airlines and routes at LBA, we have been one of the fastest growing airports in the UK over the last five years and we expect to build upon this solid foundation over the next 12 months.

“We will be focusing on introducing more city routes, especially for businesses across Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region where we provide a total economic footprint of £107m GVA.

“We also aim to further support the region’s economic competiveness by providing greater access to key commercial centres and capital cities across Europe alongside acting as a gateway for Yorkshire increasing the number of inbound tourism visitors from across the UK, Europe and worldwide.”

The latest route announcements with Jet 2 come after a busy period of route announcements from Leeds Bradford Airport to destinations including Belfast City, Warsaw, Guernsey and Newquay.

The airport now serves more than 60 direct destinations and a further 60 through hub connections, offering many choices for business and leisure travel.
