The opportunity arose after Oatein attended the Gulfoods expo as part of a six strong North East delegation as part of UKTI’s Exporting is GREAT campaign.
Oatein’s global sales director, Andy Dixon, said: “We’re delighted that LuLu Hypermarkets are going to trial our new product Oatein in some of their 125 stores across the Gulf region.”
Launched in September 2015, Oatein now exports to over 30 countries across Europe and the Middle East from its North Tyneside base.
“The exhibition was a great opportunity for us as there were 5,000 exhibitors from more than 120 nations that we could talk to,” added Dixon.
“Having UKTI advisors on hand to make introductions and advice on local business practice was invaluable.”
Chris Jewitt, food and drink sector specialist with UKTI North East, commented: “The Gulf, Middle East and North Africa and Halal markets can be complex and potentially a barrier to companies wishing to trade in them but by attending Gulfood with UKTI we were able to help Oatein get their products in front of the right people and help them secure this exciting export opportunity.”
Oatein will launch High Protein Cookies to complement the existing Flapjack range in July 2016.
