Kent wine producer Gusbourne has appointed a leading wine importer to help the company break into the US market.
Broadbent Selections, whose portfolio boasts the likes of A.A. Badenhorst, Château Musar and Ferreira, will be the exclusive distributor of Gusbourne across the pond.
Although sales of English wine are currently largely restricted to the UK market, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has high hopes for the industry overseas.
DEFRA recently predicted that UK wine exports will increase from £3.2m in 2015 to over £30m in 2020, and companies like Gusbourne are helping lead the way.
Over the past 10 years, Gusbourne has steadily built a reputation for crafting exceptional quality English Sparkling Wine, with accolades from some of the industry’s most exacting critics.
It is this strength of reputation and overwhelming industry endorsement that provides the perfect springboard to launch exports to the USA.
Gusbourne CEO, Ben Walgate said: “We believe now is the perfect time to be taking our wines to the American market.
“As the ‘English Wine Producer of the Year’, there is no better position from which to take our latest British export – the understated English Sparkling Wine - to the United States.
“By partnering with Broadbent Selections, we have every confidence that our American dream will soon become a reality.”
Gusbourne will join Broadbent’s portfolio of renowned producers including A.A. Badenhorst, Château Musar, Ferreira, Quinta do Crasto, Sadie Family, Spy Valley and Tyrrell’s as well as some of the world’s finest Madeira.
In the coming weeks, Gusbourne will dispatch a limited consignment to the USA to be appreciated and enjoyed by the finest sommeliers and with independent retailers nationally with an emphasis on New York, Washington DC, Houston, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
