Second overseas venture for ShakeTastic

Award winning milkshake and smoothie firm ShakeTastic opened its second international venue in Qatar on June 2 – just three months after opening its first.

The milkshake and smoothie company, which began life in North West London seven years ago already has ten outlets in the UK and opened at the Cineco. cinema, at the Gulf Mall, in Doha.

Back in February it opened at The Pearl also in Doha and already a drink called the Sheikh Shake, which is topped with 22 Carat gold, which has proved a big hit.

Former school friends and co-founders of ShakeTastic, Josh Kettle and Amir Darabi, have plans for even further international and domestic expansions.

Josh, 37, said: “We were really excited to be expanding with our Qatari partners. It’s our second franchise in Qatar and our brand fits well with what our franchisees are looking for.

“From the success of our first Qatari bar we’ve already seen that in such a consistently hot climate and non alcoholic culture our drinks give customers the option of being super healthy or super indulgent.

“The initial reaction from customers and our franchisee has been fantastic.

“It’s an exciting time for us as we’re getting used to working in a new cultural environment and serving and learning from a new customer base.”

Moussa Karnib, of franchisees, Worldwide Group Qatar said: “At the Worldwide group we are always looking for unique concepts that we believe will make a difference in the neighbourhoods they serve.

“We operate two ShakeTastic franchises and are looking to add more to our portfolio. We’ve been very impressed with the expert support, positive and friendly attitude and the attention to detail we have received from everyone at ShakeTastic.

“This is a brand that is destined for big things and we will be opening in a third location before the end of 2016.”

Amir, 36, added: “Like many people from the Middle East, and the UAE in particular, Qataris have a real appetite for quality goods and services from Britain.

“Getting this second store opened shows that the ShakeTastic brand is one to watch and that we’re delivering on our promise to provide great tasting drinks in a safe and fun environment.”

“We now feel the time is totally right to expand further and this year will see ShakeTastic franchise opportunities grow across the UK, as well as other international bars which are already in the pipeline. We’re actively seeking potential franchisees to have an initial chat with.”
