Opportunities to export to South East Asia attracted 50 businesses to an Exporting is GREAT presentation held at Birmingham Chamber.

British Chambers of Commerce advisors from Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Indonesia, together with officials from UK Trade & Investment Cambodia, were on hand to offer their expert advice and take part in one-to-one sessions.

Mark Sankey, who heads the UKTI operation based at the Chamber, said: “We were delighted by the response shown by local businesses to the presentation, which presented a fantastic opportunity to gather market intelligence, establish influential contacts and learn more about doing business generally in what is an important export market for UK companies.”

“South East Asian economies are growing at 6% per annum so there is great potential for UK businesses to participate in what are large, dynamic and diverse markets.”

One of the delegates, Mark Dorey, chief operating officer of Wolverhampton Business Airport-based Straightline Aviation, which manages, owns and operates hybrid aircraft, said: “Such events are a vital source of information for seasoned exporters and those hoping to break into new markets. Taking part was a valuable exercise.”
