The company, which prides itself on its strong ethical values, sells brands such as Icebreaker, Keen, Didriksons, Patagonia and Snugs (their own brand of European made, vegetable tanned sheepskin slippers).
The decision to expand its reach to the continent follows increasing demand from overseas customers enquiring about how they can purchase items from abroad despite Britain’s recent exit from the European Union.
“We wanted to open up Nature Shop to Europe so that even more customers can enjoy our range of clothing and footwear from our fantastic brands who have strong environmental and social policies”, said owner and CEO, Mel Piagesti. “We’re so passionate about our company and the products we sell and we hope to share this passion with even more people."
Mel started Izeo Ltd and purchased the Nature Shop UK domain address in early 2014 when Natureshop Ltd went into administration. Mel and her husband Rico worked for the previous company for many years, even relocating their young children to the UK from New Zealand for Rico to run the operations here in the UK, and they were determined to not give up.
“We had worked so hard to build up the Nature Shop name in the UK when we worked for Nature Shop LTD that we weren't prepared to just give up. We started our own business, purchased the domain name and kept on one member of staff.
“We are all very passionate about our ethics and vision as a company and together we rebranded and completely overhauled the website, giving it a new look that we feel is more in line with our own ethics and vision.
“We have worked incredibly hard to be where we are today and now we want to carry on growing, to keep stocking great environmentally friendly products and to do our bit to make the world a better place, locally and beyond."
Having just won ‘Best start up company’ in the Brighton and Hove Independent Business Awards 2016, Nature Shop is now looking to grow the business significantly over the next few years and opening up to Europe seemed the logical next step. “We’re so proud to have won the Best start up company award and it proves to us that all the hard work we’ve all put in over the years is working.”
Working with courier DHL, Nature Shop is now shipping to over 30 countries in Europe, as well as to their UK customers, “We’re very excited to be growing as a company and take great pride in trading consciously, ethically and mindfully,” Mel concluded.
