Exporting opportunities for Scotland

Businesses in Scotland are being encouraged to make the most of exporting opportunities with Exporting is GREAT, part of the international GREAT Britain campaign.

Launched in November 2015, Exporting is GREAT will run for five years and is designed to inspire and support 100,000 additional UK businesses to sell their goods and services overseas by 2020.

In partnership with major businesses, the programme will support companies at every stage of their exporting journey – from identifying opportunities to winning contracts overseas.

Reflecting important roles played by both the UK and Scottish governments in supporting more Scottish businesses to export, Exporting is GREAT is delivered in partnership in Scotland.

Practical support, advice and training is offered by Scottish Enterprise, its international arm Scottish Development International, and Highlands and Islands Enterprise, combined with the extensive global trading network supported by the Department for International Trade.

The campaign has already seen notable success, recording 700,000 visits to its website so far and 25,000 downloads of the Exporting is GREAT export guide.

A year-long roadshow began in November 2015, with the Exporting is GREAT Export Hub travelling around the country to provide face-to-face assistance to first-time exporters at trade events.

Following the first successful tour in February around the central belt and North East of Scotland, the Exporting is GREAT roadshow will return to Scotland in the later summer.
