A new partnership between Business Sheffield, The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC with Boeing and The Duke of York will bring the The Duke of York’s national business support programme, Pitch@Palace, to Sheffield for the first time on 20 September.
As the only Pitch@Palace ‘On Tour’ event in the North this year and just one of three in the UK, this brings with it an unprecedented opportunity for businesses in the region to showcase their talented people and tech innovation to a global audience.
Business Sheffield, the business facing arm of Sheffield City Council are inviting tech entrepreneurs that have applied for Pitch@Palace 6.0 to test their ideas at Sheffield’s ‘Pitch On Tour’ event.
Hosted by the AMRC’s Factory 2050, a panel will choose three successful people from 20 who will automatically be invited to the Pitch@Palace Boot Camp on 14 October and be in the running for the final presentation at St James’s Palace on 2 November.
Councillor Leigh Bramall Sheffield City Council deputy leader and cabinet member for business and economy said: “I’m delighted to welcome Pitch@Palace On Tour to Sheffield. This innovative programme of business support and mentoring that connects businesses with internationally operating financiers and influencers, has already helped more than 200 businesses grow and enjoy great successes.
“It makes a lot of sense that Sheffield should be chosen as host for this Tech Business ‘On Tour’ event.
“Sheffield has long since been recognised for our world-class manufacturing and engineering capabilities but due to the investment in and around the AMRC and our drive to secure the economic fortunes of the region with the UKs first Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District, we are also a magnet for innovative tech businesses and entrepreneurs who, just by being located here – have access to some of the best minds, brands, research and equipment in the world.
“This is a real opportunity for the talented people that make up Sheffield’s tech sector to show the world where the magic happens.”
