As part of a nationwide tour, the initiative’s roadshow truck visited Harrogate Water Brands, the parent company of Harrogate Spring bottled water, while Hull-based Battle Oats displayed its range of gluten free, protein-packed snack bars with the truck when it visited Hull Docks.
James Hain, managing director of Harrogate Water Brands, has achieved overall business growth of 30% in the past year including a 50% increase in exports of the firm’s premium brand of bottled water.
The company now exports Harrogate Spring worldwide to countries including China, Russia, Ukraine, South Korea and the Caribbean.
James encourages other businesses to follow in his footsteps, he said: “Exports provide an exciting opportunity for business growth and we have been successful in establishing Harrogate Spring in new markets around the world. We have seen rapid growth in our exports and these new markets are playing an increasingly important role in our business success. We are proud to be part of the Exporting is Great programme and value the support we have received from this important initiative.”
Also backing the initiative is Shaun Gibbins, co-founder and owner of Battle Oats, the Hull-based manufacturer of a range of five gluten free, protein-packed snack bars made with natural ingredients.
Launched in September 2014, the expanding business now has eight staff supplying its range to CrossFit gyms, independent health stores, rock climbing gyms and high street retailers throughout the United Kingdom.
As part of its continued growth plans, Battle Oats has worked closely with the Department for International Trade (DIT) to help grow its customer base overseas by selling directly to Germany, Spain, Italy and France.

Both businesses continue to benefit from expert and tailored advice and support from international trade advisors (ITAs) at the Department for International Trade in Yorkshire and the Humber and back the Government’s Exporting is GREAT initiative.
