The Data Lab and SDI will support eight places and are calling on chief technology officers and other senior level positions to apply for a place on the landmark trip in December.
The delegation will attend the Big Data and Analytics for Banking Summit and Chief Data Officer Summit – which will bring together the best minds in data science from across the world providing valuable insight into the innovations driving key industries worldwide.
Jude McCorry, head of Business Development at The Data Lab, said: "This trip is a great opportunity for Scotland to further cement its place as a leader in data science. The calibre of our previous overseas delegations to Singapore, San Jose and New York were extremely useful and successful. They also underlined that Scotland is at the forefront of this dynamic sector.
"Last year’s trip proved fruitful in building business between Scotland and New York. We began discussions with New York based, The Data Incubator, who recently completed a three-week data science ‘Boot Camp’ in Edinburgh so I’m really excited to see what this trip will bring.
"The Scottish data science delegates will be at the heart of the global data community. I’ve absolutely no doubt they will not just hold their own but underline how we are carving a strong offer here in Scotland that can serve the growing international marketplace for data innovation. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase Scotland as a desirable location to do business."
Callum Morton, director of software strategy financial services at NCR Corporation, was a delegate on last year’s trip to New York and said: "The trip to New York to attend the Big Data and Analytics in Banking summit was an excellent opportunity to hear from institutions, vendors and academics on how these agendas have progressed beyond the hype to deliver real-world benefits.
"It was an up-to-date read-out of what’s working - and what’s not working - in the vibrant heart of New York’s financial district. The chance to see first-hand how companies are exploiting analytics was inspiring, as were the conversations with fellow Scottish delegates who came from a variety of organisations and perspectives. All-in-all an inspiring couple of days immersed in the world of Big Data possibilities".
