Domestic and international buyers are heading for the Ice Cream Expo – the UK’s biggest trade showcase for ice cream and frozen products – in record numbers.
The event, to be held at the Yorkshire Event Centre, Harrogate on February 14-16 is expected to attract more than 2,000 visitors.
Ice cream sales generate more than £1bn to the UK economy with ice cream remaining the most popular affordable treat for most families.
The expo is organised by The Ice Cream Alliance – the trade association for the ice cream industry – and its chief executive, Zelica Carr is forecasting another successful year for exhibitors.
Carr said: "The UK has a reputation for innovation and quality which is attracting a growing interest in the expo from international buyers and decision makers.
"Combine this with buyers from an already strong and confident UK market and the scene is set for another bumper event.
"Last year’s expo generated millions of pounds’ worth of business with some exhibitors reporting the best sales in 30 years.
"I’m sure there will be a great deal of interest in investing in new equipment as well as identifying new flavours, products and services.
"While traditional ice cream remains a firm favourite demand is increasing for frozen yoghurt, sorbets and semi freddo ice cream cakes."
The Expo will also host the prestigious National Ice Cream Competition where ice cream producers from across the UK vie to be crowned the National Ice Cream Champion.
