Wizz Air has announced that it is set to commence flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) to the Southern Romanian city of Craiova as of the end of March 2017.
The service could provide a major boost to businesses operating in the automotive, energy, food and drink and chemicals industries which are some of Romania’s most emerging markets.
According to the latest research by the Department for International trade (DIT), the UK exported EUR 1.25 billion in goods to Romania in 2013 making up 3% of Romanian imports.
Tamara Vallois, head of communications at Wizz Air, said: “We are delighted today to be announcing our seventh Wizz route from Liverpool to Craiova.
“This is the first low fare Wizz Air service from Liverpool to Romania and we hope that our UK customers will enjoy visiting Craiova and exploring cultural and historical heritage of the Oltenia region.”
The three times weekly service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays commencing on 27th March 2017 and will be the only service outside of London to Craiova, taking the number of weekly departures by Wizz Air from Liverpool up to 20 from next Summer.
