Biscuiteers, the handmade biscuit company based in London, is set to expand overseas after raising £1.25m from its latest crowdfunding campaign.
Husband and wife team Harriet and Stevie launched Biscuiteers back in September 2007 as a mail order website selling handmade biscuits online.
After only a year in business however, the duo saw the potential to grow the business into more than simply an ecommerce store.
As business started to boom, they started to change the way they worked and within a year, Biscuiteers quickly made inroads into mainstream retail.
Supplying the likes of Selfridges, Harrods, The Conran Shop, Habitat and Fortum & Mason, the company went on to supply its handmade biscuits to stores across the UK.
Now the Biscuiteers are looking to expand overseas after raising £1.25m from their latest crowdfunding campaign.
Harriet said: “We were overwhelmed with interest in our campaign – it was particularly lovely to have so many of our own customers among our investors.
“We are hugely excited by the new opportunities this has created for the business and the marketing benefits that the crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube has brought to the brand.”
The crowdfund campaign proved a huge success with 784 private investors from 31 countries ranging from Indonesia to Mexico jumping on board.
The campaign means Biscuiteers will now join the ‘Funded Club’ of just 44 companies who have successfully raised over £1,000,000 since Crowdcube was established in 2011.
Luke Lang, co-founder of Crowdcube added: "With a track record of success and impressive growth plans, we're pleased our 300,000-strong crowd of investors have been able to back Biscuiteers and become part of its next exciting phase of growth.
“With over 780 investors jumping at the opportunity to invest in the award-winning business, Biscuiteers is now the latest business to successfully raise on Crowdcube bringing the total amount raised to date up to £195m.”
As well as its successful retail business, Biscuiteers has also built a successful promotional biscuit business for corporate clients with clients including the likes of Gucci, French Connection, Net a Porter, L’Oreal and Virgin Media.
