A whole host of businesses are celebrating today after scooping awards at the inaugural PD Ports Northern Powerhouse Export Awards supported by the Department for International Trade in Leeds last night.
Taking place at the Marriott Leeds, the glistening black-tie event was attended by over 200 people who joined together to celebrate the exporting achievements of individuals and companies from across the North of England.
International trade remains central to the UK’s economic growth agenda and the awards are about recognising those emerging, wealth creating companies that are selling their products and services and expertise in scores of overseas markets.
BQ managing director Bryan Hoare said: “We knew when we launched this campaign that the North had a wealth of businesses who were really capitalising on the opportunities that trading internationally brings.
“And we certainly haven’t been disappointed. The event has proven to be a huge success. I’d like to say a huge thanks to the team at PD Ports for their support as well as the guys at the Department for International Trade.
“The event really encapsulated the success of the Northern Powerhouse and we can’t wait to see what next year’s event and campaign has in store.”
David Robinson, CEO of PD Ports, added: “PD Ports is delighted to have supported the first inaugural Northern Powerhouse Export Awards.
“The calibre of businesses shortlisted has been of an extraordinary standard and it’s so promising to see such great businesses joining together from across the Northern Powerhouse to celebrate their exporting achievements.
“A huge well done to all of the shortlisted finalists, everyone involved and all of those who took home an award on the evening.”
Hartlepool-headquartered cable manufacturer JDR Cables walked away with the overall ‘Exporter of the year’ award but there were a whole host of companies celebrating award wins on the night.
