Bob Keiller, Scottish Enterprise chair and former Wood Group CEO
Scottish Enterprise chair and former Wood Group CEO Bob Keiller has been named as the keynote speaker for the HSBC Scottish Export Awards 2017.
Hailing from the Scottish Borders, Bob Keiller was appointed as the chairman of Scottish Enterprise in January 2016 after a hugely successful career in the oil and gas industry.
Keiller is most well-known for his time at Wood Group, an international energy services company boasting US$7bn sales, over 40,000 employees and operations in more than 50 countries.
He completed the US$1bn sale of PSN to Wood Group in April 2011 and was responsible for the creation of PSN by spearheading a US$280m management buyout from Halliburton in 2006.
He stepped down from Wood Group in December 2015. By the time he had left, he had established Wood Group as one of Scotland’s most successful ever exporters.
Speaking about the event, he said: “Exporting is proven to be the catalyst for fantastic growth but it isn’t easy – we need to celebrate those companies that can show the way for others so I’m delighted to be asked to speak at the awards but more importantly, to get a chance to meet the individuals looking to win them.”
Bryan Hoare, managing director of BQ, added: “We are delighted to have Bob speak at the Scottish Export Awards next month.
“Bob is renowned as one of the leading figures in the oil and gas industry and played a huge role in the establishment of Wood Group PSN.
“He is a real example of how shifting a company’s focus to new opportunities overseas can open up doors and help stimulate economic growth.”
Keiller was previously chairman of the Offshore Contracting Association (OCA) and co-chair of the cross-industry trade body Oil and Gas UK.
Alongside his non-executive role in Scottish Enterprise, Bob also provides mentoring and support for ambitious business leaders and Social Enterprises.
In 2011 he was voted “Scottish Male Business Leader of the Year” at the Scottish Leadership awards.
